Today I head to Dubai-subject to the flood waters having ebbed away- to the Emirates LitFest to attend the announcement of the winner of the Montegrappa Writing Prize, for debut UAE resident authors. The winner receives a trip to the London Book Fair and lunch with Luigi Bonomi, literary agent.
I won’t be holding my breath, as my application to publish my novel in the UAE was refused for undisclosed reasons-it’s likely the subject matter was deemed a wee bit controversial. I note the next day there is a George Orwell Lecture scheduled.
Regardless I’m going to enjoy the day out and the glamour of the bookfest – Books are sexy, baby!
The weather forecast says no rain today, but it’s looking ominously grey outside…
